Rumour: vivo X100 Pro+ flagship will get a variable aperture and a 200 MP telephoto lens

The vivo X100 Pro+ will have three impressive cameras, a leakster on Weibo suggested earlier today. The upcoming flagship, expected in the upcoming months, is said to have a 50 MP main camera with the Sony IMX989 sensor that is 1”-type – the same, used in the X90 Pro+. However, here we’ll likely see a variable aperture, likely what Huawei did with the P60 Pro and its f/1.4-f/4.0 main cam.

Another improvement would be a so-called 200 MP telephoto lens, which will be a massive increase for such a camera in the smartphone world. Although this sounds impressive on paper, we believe it will be a 50 MP sensor with pixel-binning.

The portrait camera is said to be a 50 MP shooter as well, with a Sony IMX758 sensor behind the lens. This is the same one in the vivo X90 Pro+ and X90 Pro that have 2x optical zoom, AF and OIS for this particular cam.

The phone would have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, meaning we won’t see it until Qualcomm releases the chipset officially. Vivo will also equip the X100 Pro+ with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The leakster also claimed IP68 water- and dust-proofing, as well as an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner underneath the screen.

All of these features mentioned above have been the industry standard for flagships for the past year, so we won’t be surprised to see them in the X100 Pro+. The company would surprise us if it actually launched the Qualcomm-powered phone – something it hadn’t done since mid-2022 when the vivo X80 Pro went international.
