The UK government working to give more enhanced choices of open RAN to the consumers across the country after banning Huawei’s 5G network equipment, says a report.
As per the information, the UK government has invested £30 million in the open RAN research and development project, to explore the new technologies and bring new innovations. The only purpose is to established dominance in the market.
At present, Huawei is undoubtedly the industry leader and counts as one of the biggest 5G network equipment suppliers. Thus, it’s hard to compete with Chinese technology and provides the technology, which can match Huawei’s 5G technology.
Concerning this, the British Department of Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) initiated the Future RAN Competition AKA FRANC program. It targets improving the safety requirements and resiliency of new 5G technologies and economical benefits.
Speaking of this project, it’s just proposed and expected to get approval before 27th August 2021, while the winner announcement will take place soon. The DCMS explains that we are working to lessen the dependency of network equipment on a handful of communication technology suppliers.
Furthermore, Matt Warman who is Digital Infrastructure Minister thinks of this action as “absorbing the most artistic talents”, in order to help to build the safe network web across the UK.
Besides, when most of the countries including Sweden banning the Chinese suppliers, the equipment business of Huawei growing in Africa. Adding to this, the Orange CEO- Stephane Richard can consider working with Huawei in Africa for its up-to-date 5G technologies and non-expensive cost.
