Samsung One UI 8.5 shrinks home screen page dots

Samsung One UI 8.5 Beta is available for Galaxy S25 series users, and it brings several UI changes and new features. On the home screen, the One UI 8.5 brings a subtle tweak to the page dots (indicators) to align with the new design.

Samsung dropped the second Beta update earlier this week. The update restored missing camera features and debuted a powerful Camera Assistant. The user interface has also been polished, as we just discussed the battery icon.

One UI 8.5 shrinks home screen page dots

Samsung home screen features page dots (indicators) aligned in a horizontal line. The purpose is to keep users aware of the page they are on. It has a little “home” icon for the homepage, while others are just common dots.

One UI 8.5 has reduced the size of these page indicators on the home screen. One UI 8.0 has retained the icons in their legacy size from One UI 7.0. However, the new software in Beta state has a subtle tweak for the size.

It could be an intentional change to make the indicator less visible. They won’t affect wallpaper much, without being kicked out completely. This minor change makes the home screen cleaner than ever on your Galaxy.

Such minor changes show how Samsung is reinventing the Galaxy experience. The tweaks are not just limited to animations, pop-up cards, and app icons.

There’s no denial if the change is driven by a bug in the Beta software. The change is a welcome move, but it will be reinstated if it is caused by a glitch.

Samsung has started working on the third Beta update for participants. It will be provided in January 2026, while the official version debuts in March along with the Galaxy S26 series.

Samsung has already started preparing One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S23 series. Now, new information shows that the development is progressing steadily for this series.

A new One UI 8.5 beta build has been spotted for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, identified by a build number ending in FYLJ. Earlier this month, a first testing build was spotted for this series. This shows that Samsung is continuously testing and enhancing the software for the device.

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 Beta Program is currently live for Galaxy S25 series users. The company is expected to expand this beta update to more Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S24 and S23 series.

The company is already testing One UI 8.5 on several Galaxy devices, including flagship devices, the A, M, and F series, and tablets. So far, Samsung has released two beta updates but hasn’t confirmed if the beta program will expand to more devices.

Earlier, Samsung confirmed that the One UI 8.5 update will debut with the Galaxy S26 series next year. Reports suggest that the Galaxy S26 could launch in February 2025. Until then, we can expect more beta updates for the Galaxy S25 series and the expansion of the beta program to more devices. Stay tuned for more information.
