Honor CEO Li Jian said that Honor will combine the power of AI, personal intelligence, and high-quality camera into one phone.
Speaking at the Internet Entrepreneur Forum in China, Li Jian mentioned Honor is working on a brand new device, named Robot Phone, slated to launch next year. These three aspects will bring a warm and smart experience to users.
During the Magic 8 series unveiling, Honor showcased the Robot Phone, under the theme of “One More Thing”, which has opened a wide discussion among online users in China and across the globe.
At that time, the phone appeared to be more like a concept device rather than a ready-to-sell gadget. However, Honor ensured that the phone is a real deal and will enter mass production, repeated Li Jian.
The Robot phone is using multi-modal intelligence, advanced robotics, and next-generation imaging. A video teaser of the phone sheds some light on the device, confirming that it’s operated with AI assistance. However, the phone will look similar to a regular smartphone.
It will have a large camera module on the rear of the device, covering 90% of the width. The image render shows a periscope camera. Besides normal specs, the phone has a special feature – its robotic camera, which folds out of the back through a robotic arm and supports free movement in all directions to capture the user’s facial expression as well as gestures.
It’s reported that the camera will provide this feed to process in real-time using the multimodal capabilities. This device is part of Honor’s HONOR ALPHA Plan, which focuses on its technological development and advancements in AI.
