Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao posted this video that compares vivo X200 Ultra’s stabilization to that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Previously, Han shared photos from the vivo, iPhone and a Canon 5D Mk IV to show off the image processing capabilities of the X200 Ultra, which will have not just one but two dedicated imaging chips.
The post contains a bit more detail about the camera system. All three modules will have OIS. They will be capable of recording 4K video at 120fps with autofocus active and in 10-bit Log mode to boot.
Here’s the comparison video, but note that it has been downscaled by Weibo:
It compares the video stabilisation prowess with the X200 Ultra, having much higher stability in a running scene. After all, there’s no way Vivo would compare against Apple’s best smartphone (yet) and lose publicly.
However, what Han Boxiao shared in the captions is much more interesting, as it promises many video perks coming to the Vivo X200 Ultra. We’ve translated and summarised it for you below (please pardon any errors):
- Vivo X200 Ultra will have “the strongest ultrawide in history”
- All three rear cameras have “full-focus OIS”
- The “full-focus” trait also applies to 4K120FPS videos and 4K 10-bit Log
“Full-focus” refers to the autofocusing in phone cameras, where every pixel on the image sensor can contribute to focusing. Traditional focusing typically limited autofocusing to designated areas on the sensor. The rest are pretty self-explanatory, with optical stabilisation (OIS) on every rear camera being the highlight for users who want simplified photography.
Our only question is whether the Vivo X200 Ultra will be available in Singapore. Vivo previously stopped selling its flagship-grade X-series handsets on our island, with the last model being the Vivo X80 Pro in 2022
Speaking of camera hardware, the vivo X200 Ultra will have two 50MP Sony LYT-818 sensors – one for the 35mm main and one for the 14mm ultra-wide – plus a custom 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP9 for the 85mm periscope. The phone will have a camera button.
Recently, vivo confirmed that the X200 Ultra will launch in April, but we don’t have the exact date yet.
