The black and red G-Shock Frogman MRG-BF1000B-1A is the third MRG-BF1000 model and the first to come with a single solid titanium band. (The MRG-BF1000R-1A included a Durasoft fluorine rubber band, and the limited MRG-BF1000E-1A9 included a dual band set with Durasoft and titanium.) Each part of the titanium band has a deep-layer hardening treatment and DLC coating, as does the bezel. The band differs from the titanium band of the MRG-BF1000E-1A9 by having a rose gold lock switch on the clasp instead of yellow gold.
The MRG-BF1000B-1A features a full titanium multi-piece bezel, sapphire crystal with internal anti-glare coating, and a sapphire case back insert with the Frogman mascot logo and a red vapor deposition. As a G-Shock Frogman diving model, it is rated for ISO “Diver’s 200M” water resistance. It also has a traditional screw-lock case back like early G-Shock and Frogman models.
The watch measures dive and surface times by using the analog hands as indicators and is also equipped with a tide graph display. The watch is powered by Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6 auto radio time adjustment, with Bluetooth smartphone link for additional functions. It can save up to thirty records of dive log data which is transferrable to the Casio Watches smartphone app for viewing. Other features include shock resistance, magnetic resistance, Neobrite luminous hands, dual time, stopwatch, timer (24 hours), daily alarm, full auto-calendar with date display and day indicator, and LED light. Using Bluetooth and the smartphone app offers auto time adjustment, auto summer time (DST) switching, around 300 world time cities, easy watch setting, tide graph setting for around 3,300 global points, and phone finder.
As part of G-Shock’s peak MR-G range, the MRG-BF1000B-1A is made in Japan at Casio’s Premium Production Line, and a PPL certificate is available on the app. The watch measures 56 (L) x 49.7 (W) x 18.6 (H) millimeters and weighs 170 grams.
In Japan, the MRG-BF1000B-1AJR will be released in April 2024 with a tax-included price of 693,000 yen. The MRG-BF1000B-1A is also expected to be released worldwide.
