Iris Smart Ring with blood pressure sensor now available

Iris has launched an Indiegogo InDemand campaign for its smart ring following its successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year. You can use the wearable to track your heart rate and blood oxygen level, with blood pressure and skin temperature features coming in 2024.

The Iris Smart Ring is now available to pre-order following a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Over 4,000 units of the wearable were sold during the campaign, which launched in February, generating over US$650,000. You can pre-order the intelligent health tracking ring via an Indiegogo InDemand campaign, with prices starting from 184 CHF (~US$204). The lowest pledge level at the older Kickstarter campaign was 137 CHF (~US$152); for comparison, the Oura smart ring costs US$299.

Those who pre-order via Indiegogo can expect to receive their Iris ring in December with a free lifetime subscription to the premium features, which would otherwise be billed at US$10 per month. Plus, the company is offering free returns within 14 days. You can use the wearable to track metrics such as heart rate, HRV, and blood oxygen level with a six-photodetector 18 LED PPG sensor. The device has a medical-grade thermometer and blood pressure sensor, a feature differentiating the Iris from its competitor Oura; however, these tools will not be accessible until an OTA update is released in mid-2024.

You can also monitor your sleep quality and stress levels. As this product is new to the market, the accuracy of each feature remains to be seen. Earlier this month, Assim and Nino, the team behind the wearable, announced that they had been granted a patent for “the sleekest and smartest Health Monitoring Device”. The ring is 5 mm wide and 2.5 mm thick, weighing under 5 g (~0.18 oz). There is currently a limited supply of the product remaining via Indiegog. When the Iris smart ring will be produced in significant volume and available more widely remains unclear.
