Huawei has introduced the MateBook D 14 SE 2022, a slightly updated version of the outgoing Intel Tiger Lake-powered model. Now equipped with Intel Alder Lake processors, the change sees the MateBook D 14 SE jump from 4 to 10 processor cores.
Huawei has refreshed the MateBook D 14 SE, a laptop that it introduced earlier this year as a cheaper alternative to the MateBook D 14. While the original MateBook D 14 SE relied on the Intel Tiger Lake platform, Huawei upgraded the regular MateBook D 14 to Intel’s newer architecture in the spring. Hence, it should comes as no surprise to see the MateBook D 14 SE receiving the same treatment.
Specifically, the new MateBook D 14 S E arrives with the Core i5-1235U, which should represent a slight upgrade from the Core i5-1155G7. By contrast, the MateBook D 14 relies on more powerful Alder Lake-P series processors. One of many Alder Lake-U series processors, the Core i5-1235U has two performance cores and eight efficiency cores compared to the four cores that the Core i5-1155G7 provides. Still, both processors feature the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 with 80 Execution Units (EU).
Additionally, Huawei continues to equip the MateBook D 14 S E with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, plus a 56 Wh battery that supports 65 W fast charging. Likewise, the new model has a 14-inch IPS panel that outputs at 1080p in a 16:9 aspect ratio with just 45% NTSC colour space coverage, an 800:1 contrast ratio and 250 nits of peak brightness.

Currently, Huawei only offers the MateBook D 14 S E 2022 in China, where it sells for CNY 4,199 (~US$581). Typically, Huawei takes a few months before it releases laptops globally, following their introduction its home market. In comparison, the company still lists the older 11th Gen Intel Core model for CNY 3,999 (~US$553). For reference, Huawei continues to sell the MateBook D 14 S E 2022 in silver and grey finishes.
