Casio is going back to the MTG-B2000 series for the limited edition G-Shock MTG-B2000YR-1A, featuring a stainless steel bezel with a rainbow ion plating and a multi-colored carbon laminated bezel frame that gives the appearance of rainbow stripes on the sides of the watch. The front bezel also has etched markings inspired by the landscape of a large city at night. Other unique characteristics are the rainbow-colored surfaces of the hands and indexes.
This is the first MTG-B2000 model since 2021 and the first since the MTG-B2000YBD-1A to feature a carbon bezel frame. Unlike that model which had a stainless steel band and a total weight of 131 grams, this one has a resin band and a total weight of 104 grams. It is possible to buy a black stainless steel band separately for the MTG-B2000, but it appears to be available in Japan only (BANDGS51D-1JR).
The MTG-B2000YR-1A measures 55.1 x 49.8 x 15.9 millimeters and features Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 auto radio time correction, Bluetooth smartphone link, and Triple G Resist with protection against shock, centrifugal gravity, and vibration. The MTG-B2000 series is made in Japan and has a sapphire glass display and carbon monocoque case. Other features include dual time, stopwatch, timer, alarm, full auto calendar, and LED light. Connecting to the Casio Watches smartphone app with Bluetooth provides additional functions such as automatic time correction, easy clock setting, world time with approximately 300 cities, clock status display, self-check, and phone finder.
In Japan, the MTG-B2000YR-1AJR is a November 2023 release with a tax-included price of 187,000 yen. It is also expected to be released worldwide soon.
